Wash and condition hair.
Towel-dry hair until damp and scrunch with a towel to help prevent damage and split ends.
Cover a skeleton brush in volumizing mousse and work it through your hair with the brush, ensuring the mousse is evenly distributed.
Blow-dry hair using the skeleton brush until completely dry. If you have bangs, switch to a small round brush and place it under your bangs, curling them under ever so slightly.
Once dry, use a small boar bristle brush to gather hair at the back of the head. This will be the basis of your ponytail updo. Use the brush to smooth the hair, starting with the middle and then following with the sides, ensuring all hair is smooth. Once smooth, secure the ponytail with a rubber band.
Separate the ponytail into 15 small sections. Taking one section at a time, place the tip of the hair over the barrel of a curling iron and curl upward to the rubber band; hold the curl for 10 seconds. Repeat for all 15 sections.
Once all strands are curled, separate each section with your fingers to make more curls. Then, spray a shine spray throughout your hair; use your hands to work the spray throughout your hair, scrunching the curls as you go to provide further definition.
Once all curls have been separated, take one curl strand and twist it around your finger, making a loose loop. Secure the strand near the rubber band by threading a small closed bobby pin throughout the middle of the strand. Repeat with all curls, covering the rubber band with the curls to make a faux bun and a beautiful ponytail updo.
Finish with a headband, placing it directly in the spot you want it (not starting on the forehead and sliding back). To set the hairstyle, spray an aerosol strong-hold hairspray all over the hair.
