Is There an End to Split Ends?
Split ends are a result of stresses that push hair to its breaking point. Technically speaking, each hair fiber is enclosed by the cuticle, which protects the more fragile core of the hair fiber from damage. But certain things, such as blow drying, flat ironing, hairstyling, brushing, and natural weathering, can damage your hair. If enough damage is inflicted, the cuticle is no longer able to keep the inner fiber components tightly wrapped, which can mean split ends.
Our best advice is to stop split ends before they start by taking steps to maintain healthy-looking hair with a split-end treatment. Use a wide-tooth comb to detangle wet hair, be gentle when towel-drying wet hair (when hair is most vulnerable!), use a brush sparingly, and use a conditioner every time you shampoo. Conditioning hair care products can minimize the damage that daily hairstyling and natural weathering can cause and help prevent split ends.
But if the damage is done, turn to our newest split-end treatments to fuse split ends on contact. Then when you go for a regular cut, make a promise to your hair that you will always treat it with love... and Pantene®!
