Fact or Fiction?
Hair brushing can cause you to lose hair that was ready to fall anyway, but will not increase the likelihood of hair fall or a hair fall condition. Excessive hair brushing is something to avoid simply because of the risk of damaged hair, not a risk that increases the likelihood of hair fall. If your hair is knotted or tangled, start at the bottom when hair brushing, so that you don’t put undue pressure on the hair shaft, and don’t brush hair when it’s wet, when it’s most vulnerable to damage. There is no need to walk around with un-brushed hair for fear of hair fall; normal daily hair brushing will not accelerate hair fall from the scalp.
